Where is the most happening city on earth? You can go on and on and do you notice what similarity does all these share in common? If advertising crown goes to Americans, many of you would agree with me that when it comes to fashion, the crown belongs to the Italians. Milan is the fashion capital of the world and it is home to some of the biggest names in the fashion industry. Some of the world’s most respected fashion labels such as Armani, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo and Versace were born out of Italy. With such line-up of fashion label heavyweights, it is no wonder that Milan is dubbed as the fashion capital of the world.
With advertising mastery belonging to the Americans and finest fashion designs belonging to the Italians, engineering innovation and excellence has been the pride of the Germans. One field that the Germans had been well respected for is the automobile industry. Mercedez Benz. Audi. BMW. Volkswagen. Porsche. These are just several of the biggest name in automobile and they had been highly respected for making the finest cars in the world and credited for pushing car technology forward to the state it is today.
Can you imagine what would you get if someone tries to take the brilliance of the Americans, Italians and Germans and fuse them in a single brand? At least that’s what DIESEL’s founder, Renzo Rosso, tried to accomplish with the brand he invented. Being an Italian himself, we can give him benefits of the doubt and assume that design sparks is in his blood. According to an interview carried out back in 2009, he mentioned that he borrows the marketing genius from the Americans and adopts highly efficient systems from the Germans.
The result of this deadly fusion is what we see in the DIESEL brand today. The mention of DIESEL immediately pops up cool, young and chic image. If you’re among big Diesel fans who loves your vintage-looking jeans, you have Renzo to thank for. It was him who first invented the idea of stonewashing brand new jeans in order to make them look old. He had to overcome sluggish sales and naysayers who saw his idea as being crazy and he was doomed for failure. It was his determination, unwillingness to quit and belief in his instinct that eventually led him to the runaway success of the Diesel brand. Today, other high end luxury clothing lines have replicated this vintage-looking brand new clothings to their line-up of offerings.
Today, DIESEL brand is no longer loved just for the clothes it produced. Diesel watches have been growing in popularity. The reason is none other than the bold statement that they offer as a wrist watch. All watches bearing the DIESEL logo feature distinct look on its own. One feature that has become the hallmark of Diesel watches is the oversized diameter casing. If you’re looking to buy Diesel watches for yourself or as a gift, keep in mind that whatever the case may be, they are still just a fashion watch. They are not really well-suited for extreme wear, especially outdoor activities or adventures.
Nonetheless, I would say that some of the designs that I’ve seen in Diesel watches are really worth the buck, even if it means that we’re paying only for the chic design.
